The player with the lowest net score on an individual hole wins that hole; the player winning the most holes wins the match. The 9 hole-match begins on your starting hole and ends after 9 holes have been played. Strokes are given to an opponent by subtracting the handicap or the player with the lowest handicap from the handicap of the player with the highest handicap. In match play you compete against your opponent hole by hole, you either win, lose or tie the hole. The player who wins the most holes in the match is the winner and gets 2 points. If the match ends even, with neither player having won more holes than the other, the match is tied and each receives 1 point. The player who loses the match gets 0 points. Once a player wins a hole, the other player picks up and you both move to the next hole. A player can concede or give a putt to the other player at anytime, however, if a putt is not given the player must putt out even if within 18 inches: there is no 18 inch rule in match play, one must putt out if your opponent does not concede the putt. Each 9-hole match begins at your starting hole and ends 9 holes later, the second match begins at your 10th hole and ends at your 18th. All handicaps for each match will be determined by the low handicap giving the stroke difference between the high handicap. For example: the low handicap is a 16 playing a 19 handicap, the 19 would receive 3 strokes on the 3 most difficult holes for 18 holes. Since we are playing a 9 hole match, if any of those holes fall within your 9 hole match, you would give your opponent strokes only on those holes. So, if your match starts on the Front 9, your opponent would get 1 stroke on the #1 handicap hole, #8 and on the #3 handicap hole #5.
