Rules And Information
Welcome to the GLS Greatest League. This competition is an 18-hole individual stroke play event, where each player competes on a team comprised of their fellow league members. The best 3 net scores from each league will count toward a cumulative net total. The league with the lowest cumulative net total wins.
Registration / Prizes
-
Each golfer will pay a $30 registration fee to get on the roster. This covers the prizes, including the traveling engraved plaque for the winning league's clubhouse. Golfers will be responsible for covering the cost of their greens fees, range balls, and food on the day of the event. This enables those with discount packages to use them to reduce their cost.
-
Skins - there will be a skins competition with cash prizes
-
Closest-to-the-pin - each par 3 will feature a CTP contest with a prize for the winner.
-
Your ball has to be on the surface of the green (not the fringe) to be eligible to win this prize.
Rules
-
USGA rules will govern all play, except where otherwise specified by local course rules and the following exceptions:
-
Out of bounds and lost balls are to be played as lateral hazards in order to keep up the pace of play. For example, if your ball goes into the high grass on any of the holes and you don't find it in the allotted 3 minute search period, then you can treat it as a lateral hazard (red stakes) and drop with the standard 1 penalty stroke.
-
All players are encouraged to finish each hole. That said, if a player fails to putt out or does not finish a hole we implement a net double par max score for that hole. For example, if you pick up on a par 4 where you are getting one stroke, you must mark a 9 (net 8) for that hole. (The number of strokes for each player on each hole is indicated on the paper scorecard as well as by the asterisks on the GLS app)
-
If there are any ruling questions or discrepancies on the course, have the player in question play out two balls all the way through the hole and inquire about the ruling after the round. In this case, please enter the better score of the two balls in the app and we'll adjust upward after the round if necessary.
Handicaps
-
Each player should register with their most accurate WHS handicap index. If this index is higher than what your league handicap on GLS suggests, you will be required to provide proof of handicap.
-
If you do not carry a WHS handicap index outside of GLS, then you should use the WHS handicap index on your profile page on GLS. We will adjust your handicap index just prior to the event if it changes after you register.
Tee Times / Scheduling
-
Tee times will begin at 9:00am.
-
Players will be permitted to request one playing partner. We'll try to accommodate tee time requests as much as possible, but we will not have any foursomes consisting of only players from the same league.
