Rules And Information
**Welcome to the Little Bennett Tuesday Night League.
Pre-Play Warm-Ups
-
Teams will not be allowed to play warm-up matches on Tuesday's. We need to have carts for all public tee times before the league goes out. League members can hit a warm-up bucket if they choose
-
If you are caught playing on the course before your scheduled tee time you and your partner will forfeit that day of play. PLEASE DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN
-
The driving range will be available to all participants starting at 3:45 PM until 4:45 PM. We will have a designated area reserved for all league members with the range balls provided.
Pace of Play
-
The allotted time to play 9 holes at Little Bennett is 2 hours and 15 minutes. Do the best you can at keeping up with the foursome that is in front of you. If your foursome falls behind, you will be given one (1) warning to catch up. If your foursome has to be reminded a second time, you will be asked to skip to the next hole, causing you to forfeit any chance to win prize money. Please call the Pro Shop to report slow play.
Handicaps
-
All handicaps are followed by the USGA's handicap system. We will use our returning member’s 9-hole handicap from the end of last season, with a maximum handicap of “9" for any given player. Handicaps will be adjusted after every week of play.
Substitutes
-
Any substitute without a verified USGA or MSGA handicap will start with a three (3) for their first round unless they have played as a sub in the past or is a former league member. After the first round, they will be placed on our “sub list” and will get 9-hole handicap established for the next time they play as a sub.
-
Notify the Pro Shop of any subs by email (up until the date of play) (golfleaguesite.com) OR by phone call (301-253-1515) NO LATER THAN 12:00 NOON THE DAY OF PLAY so that the scorecard changes can be made! DO NOT send an email to notify of subs on the date of play – You MUST call the Course!!!
-
If your substitute would like to use his or her established handicap they will have needed to provide proof of the handicap no later than 12:00 on the day of play. Failure to provide proof of handicap will result in substitute playing as a (3)
-
**PLEASE ALWAYS HAVE 1 OR 2 PEOPLE IN MIND THAT CAN FILL IN FOR YOU AT ANY GIVEN TIME THROUGHOUT THE SEASON AND HAVE THEM TURN IN TWO 18-HOLE SCORES TO BE PUT IN THE SYSTEM IF THEY ARE NOT ALREADY IN IT**
-
At least one registered player from each team needs to be present to accumulate points for any given week. If you would like to use a sub they will need to play with a registered league participant. Can’t use two subs in the same week.
Shotgun Start
-
We will shotgun start every week starting at 5:00 PM. We ask that all players meet down by the clubhouse for weekly pairings and announcements no later than 4:50.
-
IF YOU ARE NOT AT YOUR STARTING HOLE BY 5:10 THE OPPOSING TEAM WILL START WITHOUT YOU AND WILL BE FORCED TO FORFEIT POINTS FOR ANY MISSED HOLES. . If you are unable to make it to the course on time, (i.e. meeting, traffic, etc.) please call the course and every effort will be made to adjust your starting hole for a later starting time. If you arrive late, you will still be given the opportunity to join your match, but you will lose the points for any missed holes as a team.
Attendance
-
ZERO (0) POINTS WILL BE GIVEN TO ANY TEAM THAT DOES NOT SHOW UP FOR A MATCH.
-
EIGHT (8) POINTS will be awarded to the team that shows up to play the match as long as THEY ARE PRESENT AT THE START OF THE MATCH.
-
AT LEAST ONE TEAM MEMBER MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN THE FULL 8 POINTS.
-
Matches against “no show” teams are NOT eligible to win any prize money, as there is no one to attest your scores. Please contact the shop and your assigned match to reschedule ahead of time!
Scoring and TNL Rules of Golf at LB
-
We are not doing “stroke and distance” for out-of-bounds shots. Do not return to the tee box/ last shot location in order to hit another ball. Instead, treat all Out-Of-Bounds shots as a lateral hazard and take a drop in bounds WITH penalty stroke, no nearer to the hole from the point of entry. This includes Out of Bounds and lost balls.
-
League Specific Out-Of-Bounds and Hazard Rules
-
Hole #6 - If you're tee shot does not clear the hazard drop on the other side in the "DROP ZONE" with a one stroke penalty.
-
Hole #9 - If you don't clear the hazard drop at the closest point of entry and take "ONE PENALTY STROKE."
-
Hole #13 – If you don't clear the hazard drop at the closest point of entry and take "ONE PENALTY STROKE."
-
Hole #18 - If you don't clear the hazard drop at the closest point of entry and take "ONE PENALTY STROKE."
-
Water Hole Drop Areas (may or may not be marked with a circle of paint):
-
If you want to try to keep track of the scoring during the match – USE A SEPARATE SCORECARD!!! DO NOT WRITE ANYTHING BUT THE GROSS/NET SCORES ON THE OFFICIAL SCORECARD!!
-
Points:
There are 8 points awarded for each match.
Each match will consist of three - 3 hole sets worth 2 points each.
2 point awarded for team with overall low net for the entire 9 holes.
Total of 8 points per match
-
Scorecards need to be returned to the pro shop after the match concludes. The card needs to be attested with one signature from each team for the match to count!
Inclement Weather
-
Should we experience a rain-out on any given week, except during playoffs, and the league is cancelled, the match will be made up on the "ONE" rain date set aside at the end of the regular season.
-
We will make every effort to cancel the league, through e-mail notification, NO LATER than 2:30pm if heavy rains or lightning should persist or look likely.
-
ALWAYS CALL THE PROSHOP IF THE WEATHER IS QUESTIONABLE!
-
There has been one (1) week set aside at the end of the season for the FIRST rained out match of the season. Any other rained out weeks will not be rescheduled.
-
If for whatever reason a particular match is unable to finish we will award points for any 3-hole set that has been decided or finished. All 3 hole sets that are still undecided will be split evenly between the two teams including low net.
-
Play will continue until the commissioner has decided to cancel.
Prizes
-
$60 in prize money will be awarded each week for the following categories
-
Team Low Net ($15 to each player)
-
Closest to the pin on both Par 3's ($15 to each winner can be the same player)
Prize Money
-
If you win prize money throughout any given week of the league, it will be put on an individual "gift card."
-
All league money won will be recorded on this league site for each week, where you can keep track of your winnings throughout the season. Please see a Pro-Shop staff member to find out how much you have been awarded on your personal gift card at any time during the season.
-
The money on your gift card can be used at your discretion and for whatever reason, but can only be used at Little Bennett, at any time throughout the year! IT WILL EXPIRE ON 12/31/24!!!
Playoffs
-
Seeding for playoffs will be based on final point totals. Only the top 16 teams out of the overall 32 will make the playoffs
-
To break a tie entering the playoffs i.e. 3 teams tied for 16th overall after the 20-week season. The tie will be broken first by Head to Head then we will go back to the team that received the most points the week before.
-
If there is inclement weather during a week of the playoffs you are expected to make up the match BEFORE the next week’s matches or Banquet night, at a time that is suitable for BOTH teams.
-
The playoffs are a one and done format
-
NO substitutes will be allowed in the playoffs.
-
To break a tie in the playoffs we will look back on the scorecard and break the tie with the hardest handicapped hole. i.e. Team 1 got 5 on hole 1 and Team 2 got 6, team 1 wins with the 5
