Rules And Information
Welcome to the VGL (RR) rules page.
1.) Scores for Weeks 1 through 3 will be used to determine handicaps.
2.) Regular Season Scoring will be net stroke play with handicap.
3.) Handicaps will be used for the regular season weeks 4 through 19.
4.) League Play: Weekly scores will be individual against the field due to weekly player availability. No makeup day scoring is necessary. Team play can occur and can be determined by handicaps if even an amount of players are available that day.
5.) Handicaps are based on 100% of a player's median or average score.
6.) Playoff Scoring will be net stroke play with handicap.
7.) Playoffs are head-to-head single elimination.
8.) Playoffs - 1st Round Seeding: 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, & 4 vs 5.
9.) Balls must be played as they lie. No picking up a ball in the rough to identify it.
Exceptions (without improving your lie):
a.) Unless "Winter Rules" apply.
b.) Rolling a ball laterally in the fairway is allowed.
c.) Tree roots or rocks are in close proximity as not to damage the club.
10.) Preferred Lies "Winter Rules": Golfers may pick up and clean mud off ball and replace ball in identical spot.
11.) Ball on Cart Path: A ball on a cart path (an immovable obstruction) entitles you to free relief. You must find the nearest point of complete relief—not closer to the hole—and drop the ball within one club-length of that point. This rule applies if the path interferes with your lie, stance, or swing.
12.) Unplayable Ball: A player may declare their ball unplayable anywhere except in a penalty area, incurring a one-stroke penalty. Options include stroke-and-distance relief, back-on-the-line relief, or lateral relief within two club-lengths. The player is the sole judge of whether the ball is unplayable
13.) Lost Ball/Out of Bounds: A player can drop the ball in one club's length from the out of bounds line where the ball was lost, but without advancing the ball closer to the hole, with a 1-stroke penalty. Or has the option of re-teeing with a 1-stroke penalty.
14.) Ball in Hazard: A player can drop the ball in one club's length from the hazard line where the ball entered, but without advancing the ball closer to the hole, with a 1-stroke penalty.
15.) Gimmies: Putts within 2 feet can be conceded, although the leagues limit is to "inside the leather" (putter grip).
16.) "Greenies": Greenies game will occur every week. Greenies are individual awards. No "Team Greenies" when playing team events. The ball must be on or partially on the green. Fringe does not count.
17.) Max Strokes per Hole: To speed up play the maximum number of strokes per hole is double the par of that hole.
18.) Rule Disputes will be settled by a league vote. In the event of a tie in votes, the final vote will be determined by the league commissioner.
19.) Tees: Blue (no exceptions)
