Rules And Information
Welcome to the GolfLeagueSite 2-Player Tour! GLS supports custom 9-hole 2-player team leagues at several courses in the area. The GLS 2-Player Tour will play 7 events (once each month from April through October), rotating through 7 different venues along the way. Here's the catch - at each venue the teams will play using the scoring system used by that course in their GLS 2-player team league. We'll keep season standings throughout the year and crown champions at the conclusion of the last event.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
-
Tee times will be set for you but you'll be on the hook for paying the monthly greens fees at each event. We are targeting late afternoon (twilight) tee times since we are only playing 9-holes. This will help keep the cost down.
-
4/24 - Rattlewood
-
5/22 - PB Dye
-
6/19 - Laytonsville
-
7/17 - Northwest
-
8/21 - Needwood
-
9/18 - Waverly Woods
-
10/16 - Little Bennett
-
If you'd like to learn the formats for each event - please check out the leagues at those courses on GLS.
-
If you'd like to rescheduling a match, you must meet all of the following conditions:
-
Both teams in the match must agree to the rescheduled match date/time.
-
You must notify the league manager at least 48 hours prior to your originally scheduled tee time to provide ample time for cancellation. Otherwise, your group may be on the hook for the cost of their original tee times, subject to the course policy.
-
You must book the new tee time yourselves and the match must be played after the previous event and prior to the following event.
-
If the rescheduled match takes place on a different date from the original match, then all four players involved will not be eligible for event prizes since they will have played with different tees, pins, and weather.
-
Any event that gets rained out will be rescheduled 2 weeks following the original event. If the makeup date also gets rained out, we will cancel the event and re-distribute the prize money from that event to the remainder of the prize pool.
RULES
-
Each team will have 2 players on it. Teams may add a single substitute to the sub list. There is no requirement that teammates in the GLS-2PT must be teammates in their regular 2-player league.
-
Each player will play using their respective league handicap (if a player actively plays in multiple leagues, we will use the league handicap with more scores from the past 12 months). Anyone who plays exceptionally well (relative to their league handicap) at any point after the first 3 events may be adjusted to a handicap that uses only GLS-2PT scores. For those looking for a more technical definition, any score that triggers an ESR will be subject to a handicap reduction. Any players who do not have a GLS league handicap will need to supply an official updated WHS handicap index prior to the season start.
-
Each event format will be scaled to yield a maximum of 100 points to any team. The season standings will drop the lowest event score for each team.
-
All events will use the GLS live scoring app to keep score.
-
Follow USGA rules unless otherwise noted.
-
No gimmes - keep hitting the ball until it finds the cup.
-
All unmarked high grass will be treated as a lateral hazard.
-
If you lose a tee shot, we don't have time for you to go all the way back to the tee and hit another one. In the event you hit a ball OB and you did not hit a provisional, use the new USGA rule to take a 2-stroke penalty and drop laterally on the near side of the fairway. If there is any sort of dispute on the rules, just play 2 balls if necessary and sort it out with the rules committee after the round.
-
COVID RULES
-
If there are no rakes in the traps, you are permitted to lift, clean, "foot rake", and place your ball back in the trap exactly where it was without penalty.
-
A putt is only holed if it comes to rest in the hole. A putt that "hits the foam" and then bounces out is not holed. Everyone is putting into the same cups - use the correct speed :)
-
